If you are thinking about becoming a Rabbit
keeper or have just started you are a ‘Novice’.
This is not a detrimental term but it means quite simply that
in one years time you should know a lot more than you do now.
I do not know where to send you to increase your knowledge,
the allotment gardens in the pit villages of South Yorkshire
were a breeding ground for livestock, and now in hindsight,
I realise that those old pitmen knew what they were doing.
Learn the basic things first , just because you have got the
money to buy possible future champions does not mean that
you know how to look after it, keeping it in top condition
either as a companion pet or a show rabbit, many people entering
the Rabbit hobby finish after 18 months. I explain that they
go out, buy what the think is a good young show buck, show
him too often over the next 6 months, buy a doe to breed some
young. They then rear the litter until they are 8 months old,
realise that none of them are any good and then pack in after
18 months.
There is an old saying ‘If you fail to plan, your
plan will fail’
